Procedures for Optimum Results on Your Medical Examination |

the Day of Exam:

TIMING: Schedule your exam during the morning, before the day's tension has a chance to build up. Get a good night's sleep the night before. Schedule your appointment for the morning; reschedule if not. | ||||||||||

On the Day of Exam:
| CAFFEINE: Do not drink anything with caffeine the day of the exam. Drink water only. | ||||||||||

On the Day of Exam:

PET AN ANIMAL: Non-hyper dogs, cats, rabbits, if petted, will lower your blood pressure. | ||||||||||

the Day of Exam:
|
URINE SPECIMEN: Give a urine specimen before your blood pressure check. Elimination of body fluids lowers blood pressure. | ||||||||||

On the Day of Exam:
|
BLOOD PRESSURE CHECK: If EMSI tries to take blood pressure before your urine specimen, STOP THEM! | ||||||||||
| One Day Prior to Exam: | FOOD: Fast for 12 hours. The easiest way to do this is to not eat anything after dinner the night before. | ||||||||||
| One Day Prior to Exam: | SMOKING & OTHER TOBACCO: Tobacco use elevates blood pressure by constricting artery walls. If you smoke, don't smoke for 24 hours prior to your examination. | ||||||||||
| Two Days Prior to Exam: | ALCOHOL: Drinks with alcohol can elevate blood pressure for 24 hours after use. To play if safe, don't drink for 48 hours before your exam. | ||||||||||
| Two Days Prior to Exam: | EXERCISE: Don't exercise vigorously for two day prior to your exam. It can temporarily alter the chemical balance of your urine. | ||||||||||
| Three Days Prior to Exam: | SALT: Salt makes your body retain fluids. Avoid it as much as possible for three or four days before the exam. | ||||||||||
| Four Days Prior to Exam: |
FOODS TO AVOID: To keep your Cholesterol Level at the lowest level, AVOID THESE FOODS 4 days prior to your exam:

| Medical History: | Give the examiner your complete medical history. Verify the locations of doctors and hospitals. Omitting important medical details could cause an application to be turned down or invalidate your policy. | ||||||||||
